The Disabled Facilities Grants and Adaptations Service provides advice, help and guidance in the provision of major adaptations for disabled people living in Bolton.
 
Aim
 
The aim is to enable frail, elderley and disabled people to live independently in their own homes. This assistance is provided for customers living in the public and private sector.
 
Examples of adaptations which can be provided:
 
o installation of a shower
o stairlifts
o access ramps
o major structural changes
 
Our Service Standards To You
 
We will send customers an information pack, including guidance notes, to assist in making initial enquiries for adaptations or other options which may be available. This will be sent out within 10 working days of the request.
 
We will respond to customers in writing with a decision and reason(s) within 10 working days of the formal assessment taking place.
 
We will approve works within 6 months of the initial visit by the Building Surveyor (cases classed as high priority will be dealt with earlier).
 
In all cases we will ensure that the completed works meet the required customer standard.
